There seems to be some confusion regarding eNotarizations in the state of Colorado. The confusion comes with the terminology. When we usually think of words that start with "e-" (like e-mail), we think of something electronic that takes the place of something physical. In this case, an electronic document is being notarized through an electronic signature process. The signer must still appear before the notary public face to face. The physical presence part of the notarization process is NOT completed electronically.
A Notary Public must be approved by the Secretary of State in order to perform electronic notarizations. This is in addition to the normal requirements to become a notary.
Please visit the Secretary of State's website for more information about the electronic notarization process and how to apply.
